Easy to crochet Angel Ornament - FREE pattern

I recently saw a link for a free angel pattern on my Facebook feed. The pattern is super easy (only four (4) rows of crochet); you could easily make several in an afternoon.

Here are two angels I made yesterday (I haven't blocked them yet). The white one on the left is made using Knit-cro-sheen which is a size 10 thread. That made an angel that is about 2 inches. The blue one on the right is made using Premier Cotton Fair, a size 2 cotton yarn. With that yarn I was able to get an angel that is about 3 inches which will match the size of my crocheted snowflakes so I will continue to use the Cotton Fair yarn for the rest of my angels.

Every year I decorate a 6 1/2 ft. tree in my entry way with icicles and snowflakes (just one of many trees I decorate...I love Christmas!). These angels will make a beautiful addition to that tree.

The free pattern is available from Kim Guzman at Crochet Kim.

God Bless America!

After the tragic events of this past weekend and the coming July 4th holiday it is time to create something to show our love for America.

Here is a wonderful project that just came across my Facebook feed this morning. I just love the design and so I decided to share it with my friends!

The directions for this primitive-looking flag wall or door decoration are FREE on Optimistic Mommy's blog. The pattern doesn't even call for sewing...you can hot glue everything together. Probably most of us already have these materials in our craft/sewing room!

I encourage all you crafters out there to make and proudly display this flag decoration to show your love of America and to support all the families affected by the Orlando, Florida tragedy!

FREE Patriotic Wreath to Crochet

With Memorial Day and July 4th right around the corner, I wanted to share a FREE pattern to crochet a patriotic wreath.

Here is a picture of the one I made from the pattern to hang over my mantle last year.

The pattern is fairly easy to make using a styrofoam wreath as a base. For the stars, I substituted pearls instead of the french knots called for in the pattern.

If you would like the pattern that is available for FREE on Yarnspirations, click on my picture!

FREE Superhero patterns...

Made by Mary is now making her crochet superhero patterns FREE on Ravelry. Mary Smith is the talented designer behind Made by Mary and apparently she was unable to get Disney's permission to sell her patterns, so she decided to give them away.

If you have never made one of Mary's patterns, they are wonderful. I recently made her pattern "Holli the Heart" for my grandson as a Valentine's gift.

Please remember that while Mary has made her patterns FREE, they are still her property as far as copyright.

Also, remember that Mary is making them free because Disney would not allow Mary to sell her patterns so a word of caution for all crocheters...if you sell completed superhero dolls made from Mary's patterns, you could encounter some problems with Disney; they are very proactive in stopping the sale of their trademarked property.

Lastly, please don't forget to show Mary some "love" by adding some of her patterns to your favorites in Ravelry!

Click on each picture to go directly to the patterns.

Did you know...

...that April is "Stress Awareness Month"?

I had no idea until I received an email from Yarninspirations last week.

To help celebrate "Stress Awareness Month", designer Twinkie Chan, on behalf of the Craft Yarn Council, designed some lemons and is making the pattern available FREE. Feeling a little stressed?  Just give a few "squeezes" to one or two of the lemons!

However, as you can see in my picture below, they also are cute as part of a vignette. I made the "If life gives you lemons..." cross stitch picture in 2005.  The bowl of lemons was just what I needed to add to the display on my pie chest. All I need now is to find just the right doily pattern to crochet and put under my bowl of lemons.

At any rate, visit Yarninspirations to get your FREE patterns, both knit and crochet versions are available. These are quick to make; I made all three (3) of my lemons with leftover yarn in a couple of hours last night.

Have fun with this pattern and don't let stress get the better of you!

Heidi Yates is the designer behind Snappy Tots and her designs are wonderful...I own and have made many of them.

Don't tell my son, but here is a picture I took when he wasn't looking yesterday...he's wearing Heidi's Gilbert Gorilla hat that I made for him a couple of years ago.

I was not compensated or do I receive any benefits from promoting Snappy Tots patterns.

Have you ever joined a CAL?

A CAL is short for a Crochet-Along. A pattern is posted by the designer in several parts. Everyone who joins the CAL then works on the pattern using their own choice of yarn or thread colors. As the pattern progresses, pictures are posted by the participants. The fun part is seeing what colors everyone uses for their project.

Celinda over at Crochet Memories is holding a Crochet-Along right now for a beautiful crochet doily.

.

The first part of the doily was posted today. Want to join in on the fun, click on the picture to be taken to Crochet Memories; part 1 and other pertinent information is posted there.
